Bios of Curators:
David Cohen is the Executive Director of Friends of Tryon Creek and was formerly
the Executive Director of the Museum of Contemporary Craft, one of the oldest non-profit
cultural institutions dedicated to the crafts in the country, and has had a long history
as an arts administrator in the Pacific Northwest. A graduate of the Museum Art School
(now the Pacific Northwest College of Art), David has worked for a range of institutions
including Portland Center for the Visual Arts, The Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh,
the Oregon Arts Commission, the Elizabeth Leach Gallery, the Salem Art Association, and
the Portland Children's Museum. He has been involved in numerous statewide activities
including advisory panels for the Oregon Arts Commission, the Masters in Arts Administration
program at the University of Oregon as well as the Board of Visitors, the advisory body for
the Art and Architecture Program at U of O. He was also on the board of the Northwest Business
for Culture and the Arts, the Oregon Festival and Events Association, the Salem Convention and
Visitors Association and the Salem Riverfront Carousel Association.
